Eblana Photonics of Dublin, Ireland, a designer and manufacturer of laser diodes emitting around 1310nm, 1490nm and 1550nm for communications and other applications, whose EP1550-NLW-B laser diode module series: Features a strained multi-quantum well discrete mode laser diode chip integrated with optical isolator, thermo-electric cooler, thermistor and power monitor photodiode in an industry standard hermetically sealed 14-pin butterfly package. Offers narrow linewidth in 200 kHz and 400 kHz versions, 'excellent' wavelength control and stability, highly linear light current characteristics and high side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) performance for applications in coherent communications, optical sensing, test and measurement, Lidar and interferometry.
Has announced the introduction of a 1550nm, 100 kHz emission linewidth laser to expand the EP1550-NLW-B narrow linewidth product series.
With this addition, Eblana's product portfolio offers a further 50% reduction in guaranteed linewidth over its existing narrow linewidth products, giving designers further scope for maximising system performance.
The products are said to be already in use in high-bandwidth coherent communications as well as in various sensor, medical and imaging applications.
Each device is shipped with individual test data of the measured linewidth and Eblana said custom wavelengths can be supplied to address application specific requirements.
