Manitoba Telecom expands DSL coverage into rural areas using Paradyne's GranDSLAM 4200IP platform
Announced Date: 2/24/2004 Published Date: 2/24/2004

Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS), Canada's fourth largest telephone company, is deploying Paradyne's broadband access platform to expand the reach of its DSL service to residents in rural areas who have been unable to experience high-speed Internet connections until now.

According to MTS, Paradyne's technology provides a cost effective solution to deliver high-speed Internet, and offers the option for future growth via new applications and increasing the number of users.

Kelvin Shepherd, vice president of network services and chief technology officer of MTS Communications, remarked, "Paradyne worked with us to define both a technically feasible and economically beneficial plan that hits the mark, allowing us to address new markets with a cost-effective rollout of ADSL service".

MTS will immediately begin deploying standards-based DSL using Paradyne's recently introduced GranDSLAM 4200IP, a compact piece of equipment used within the telephone company's network infrastructure to deliver broadband connections over regular phone lines.
