8-month old active InP component co VSK Photonics gets $6m in lease finance for equipment

VSK Photonics, of Lake Forest, California, a supplier of InP based active photonic components, formed in December 2000, announced it had moved into a headquarter facility in Lake Forest where it would produce Indium Phosphide based optical components, which would initially find applications in 10 Gbit/s, both long haul and metro, and ultimately become key elements in 40 Gbit/s systems.

Thee VSK Photonics announcement said it had financed equipment for the new plant with a $6 million lease line from Lighthouse Capital Partners, bringing VSK's total funding to date to $24 million.

VSK also announced it had appointed John Creelman, previously VP Finance and CFO of Copper Mountain Networks, as CFO and VP.

VSK stated that its mission is "to become a leading supplier of innovative and performance differentiated optoelectronic components and modules, focusing on 40 Gbit/s InP-based products to meet the evolving needs of the telecommunications industry". On March 13th 2001, the company announced it had received $18 million of first round investment financing from Morgenthaler Ventures and Intel Capital.
