FTTH Council Europe elects ADTRAN CTO Ronan Kelly as president
Announced Date: 4/28/2016 Published Date: 5/27/2016

ADTRAN announced that Ronan Kelly, CTO for the EMEA and APAC regions at ADTRAN, has been appointed president of the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Council Europe.

Mr. Kelly previously held the role of treasurer for the 124-member company organisation and becomes the eighth president of the council since its creation in 2004. He will lead advocacy for the group, focusing on the role FTTH deployments play in the European economy and the global marketplace.

As President, Kelly will lead initiatives set by the FTTH Council Europe, including supporting ongoing European FTTH rollouts and educating the market about the benefits delivered when communities and homes are connected to fibre.

This is especially important in parts of Europe where FTTH is just beginning to gain market share, including: Ireland where less than 4,000 new FTTH customers were connected in the first nine months of 2015; Croatia, Germany and Poland that recently attained the 1% threshold; and Austria, the UK and Belgium, which have yet to meet the 1% threshold.
