Telstra acquires spectrum in 1800 MHz band for A$190m to enhance 4G services

Telstra announced it is investing $190 million to secure 57 blocks of spectrum at an Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) auction.

The blocks of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band cover 12 regions across Australia and will be used to enhance the delivery of 4G mobile services. Telstra customers in areas covered by the auction will be able to use the new spectrum when licences come into effect in May 2017. The spectrum licences have a term of 11 years.
