MRV launches full lifecycle service orchestration capability for optical and packet services
Announced Date: 11/17/2015 Published Date: 11/18/2015

MRV Communications, a global provider of packet and optical solutions, has announced the availability of Pro-Vision 3.2.1, which is designed to enable the provisioning, management, troubleshooting and reporting of both packet and optical services.

MRV's new Pro-Vision release is designed to streamline and automate lifecycle orchestration of MEF CE2.0 and optical transport services utilising intuitive GUI-based screens that can help to speed up service creation, monitoring and troubleshooting procedures.

Combined with MRV's OptiDriver, OptiPacket and OptiSwitch product lines, which also support ROADM and 100 Gbit/s interfaces, Pro-Vision enables complete control of optical transport and packet services for next-generation access networks and services. Pro-Vision addresses the phases of lifecycle service orchestration from planning to activation and monitoring, including maintenance and troubleshooting.

Additionally, Pro-Vision features a new optical channel monitoring capability that works in concert with a dedicated module that forms part of MRV's optical transport portfolio. This provides for automatic monitoring of up to eight 40- or 80-channel DWDM trunks per module.

The channel monitoring tool helps users to simplify and automate troubleshooting by setting thresholds, generating automated alerts and gathering historical information about the performance of each wavelength on the monitored trunks for historical review and reporting. The capability also provides for the export of performance data to customer portals or standard file types.

Earlier in the year, MRV announced the release of the OptiPacket OP-X1 access platform, designed to extend 100 Gbit/s CE2.0 capabilities to the last mile. Supporting a flexible mix of 100 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and offering 800 Gbit/s switching capacity, the OP-X1 solution is designed to enable bandwidth expansion up to 100 Gbit/s and/or support a number of 10 Gbit/s customer links from a 2 RU platform.

Also this year, MRV enhanced the functionality of its optical channel manager (OCM) wavelength measurement tool to allow service providers and data centres to continuously monitor all wavelengths on a WDM network and upgraded its OptiDriver optical transport product line with dynamic wavelength routing functionality to enable intelligent optical network control capabilities.
