Huawei has announced its selection by TDC as the sole vendor to modernise the nationwide GSM/UMTS/LTE network in Denmark and provide managed services over a six-year period. The value of the contract is over $700 million over the term of the agreement.

Huawei will create around 100 new jobs in Denmark in addition to the transfer of a number of existing engineering staff into the Chinese company. Huawei expects to have completed the recruitment of new staff by March 1, 2014.

TDC has committed to extend its LTE network coverage to even the least populated areas of the country before the end of 2015.

Huawei will implement its Single RAN solution using software-defined radio technology that can be upgraded through software configurations to ensure the long term development of the network. Huawei will also implement its Service Quality Management service to further increase TDC's focus on improving end customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Carsten Dilling, Group CEO at TDC, said, "Through this contract we will change all the base stations in the mobile network to the latest network equipment and software, ensuring that we future proof the network".
